Geography Week in Year 4

Following our fieldwork trip earlier in Geography week, Year 4 spent the rest of the week using comparative bar charts to analyse their data to discover which kinds of buildings are missing from our local area. They then developed individual design proposals for a new building in Shiregreen. Pupils then worked in groups to share ideas and agree on a design idea they would develop into a model as part of our outcome for the 'What makes a building iconic?' topic.

I was so impressed with how my class worked as a team to listen to each others' proposals and to work collaboratively to combine ideas. They came up with building fantastic ideas such as a lifestyle centre with a café and garden; a hotel with sports facilities and gardens; a kids café with play area and water park; a local hub with rooms to stay, a gym, a café and local services; and a new gym.

These are all tremendously well thought out creations that would make our local area an even better place to live and I can't wait to see our pupils turn their designs into models.
